Andrew Gordon Gobczynski was born on September 24, 1981 and died December 8, 2014. The son of Leon and Rebecca and twin brother of Stephanie. Andrew and Stephanie were born in St. Brieuc, France because Leon and Becky were living there during Leon's professional basketball career. They moved back to the USA when the twins were 3 and Andrew began excelling in sports. Andrew was an agile athlete from an early age. Growing up, he played basketball, baseball, soccer, and any other sport that might have been in season. While playing these sports, Andrew won countless awards and trophies. While attending Teutopolis High School, Andrew played for the legendary Coach Ken Crawford, and his basketball teammates made two state tournament appearances. During the Illinois State Championship in 2000, Andrew earned All-State honors. He also earned a full athletic scholarship to Eastern Illinois University, where he played basketball for four-years under Coach, Rick Samuels. In 2001, Andrew's EIU team made the NCAA Basketball Tournament. He was a team captain his senior year. After graduation from EIU in 2005, Andrew moved to St. Louis to begin his business career. In 2010, he married Priya Soni, and started his family. During that same year, Andrew took a job with State Farm Insurance. Their daughter Shreya, was born a day before Andrew's birthday in 2011, and Andrew Jai, their son, was born July 12, 2014. Andrew was an insurance agent in Wood River, like his father in Effingham, Illinois.
